As of the latest update by the Greek authorities, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 diagnosed cases in Greece is 167,549. 17 new deaths were reported raising the total number to 6,034. The number of patients treated in intensive care units is currently 284. 1,496 new cases were announced yesterday in Greece. 795 of the new cases were found in the Attica region and 101 new cases in the Thessaloniki region.
Athens, along with the entire Attica region, is placed in strict lockdown starting today at 6:00 and lasting until Sunday, February 28.
Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias announced on Wednesday the additional restrictive measures that will take effect.
The following measures concern the region of Attica, including the islands, and the region of Trizinia:
– The use of a mask is mandatory both indoors and outdoors.
– The traffic ban is still in force from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on weekdays, while on weekends the ban will be in force from 6:00 PM until 5:00 AM.
During the remaining hours, leaving one’s home will continue to only be permissible for the six given reasons for movement and after sending an SMS and carrying the necessary documentation.
Individual exercise is still allowed inside the bounds of the city.
Regarding travel into and out of the region of Attica, this is allowed only for the following reasons and with the presentation of the necessary supporting documents:
Regarding the operation of hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices and diagnostic centers, the following measures continue to apply:
The suspension of visits to care homes/retirement homes has also been extended.
Public transport vehicles will operate at 65 percent passenger capacity and ships at 50 percent passenger capacity (55 percent if they have cabins).
A driver and up to two passengers (excluding minors and people in need of assistance) are allowed in cars and taxis.
Regarding places of worship, only up to nine (9) people are allowed to attend ceremonies, such as weddings, baptisms, funerals, memorial services, etc.
With regard to sports activities, the existing measures are still in force as well as the measures that apply to archeological sites, film screenings, live performances and auditions and other performing arts, conferences and exhibitions, rehearsals and television and film shootings and recordings.
Covid-19 vaccination coverage in Greece on Wednesday stands at 4.46 percent of the population, the Health Ministry reported on Wednesday. According to Ministry data, a total of 446,780 vaccinations of both the first and second dose have been administered to the public so far.
On Wednesday, the platform offering appointments for vaccinations will open for citizens aged 60 to 64, who will be given the AstraZeneca vaccine, while on Friday the platform will start offering appointments for those aged 75-79 using the other vaccines deemed effective for those over 65.
Inoculations for the 60-64 age group with the AstraZeneca vaccine will begin on February 15, running simultaneously with the main vaccination program, which is currently vaccinating citizens aged between 80 and 84.
