As of the latest update by the Greek authorities, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 diagnosed cases in Greece 3,195,887. 64 new deaths were reported raising the total number to 28,274. The number of patients treated in intensive care units is currently 356. 15,690 new cases were announced yesterday in Greece. 6,339 of the new cases were found in the Attica region and 1,610 new cases in the Thessaloniki region.
The emvolio.gov.gr vaccination platform opened on Wednesday for people aged between 70 and 79 years old to book an appointment for their second booster shot against Covid-19.
The 60-69 contingent comes next, with appointments for that age group being available on the platform as of Friday.
As was the case with the first booster, citizens can choose between the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Some 40,000 appointments have already been booked for the fourth dose of the vaccine in the 80+ age group, after the platform opened for them last Thursday.
Health authorities estimate that around 1.3 million citizens over the age of 60 are entitled to a second booster shot, which needs to come at least four months after the first booster.
A fourth dose is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended for the elderly and people with health problems that may make them more vulnerable to serious illness.
Greek health authorities announced 15,690 new cases of Covid-19 and 64 virus-related deaths during their daily briefing on Tuesday. The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) also stated that there are currently 356 intubated patients being treated in Intensive Care Units.

Bulgaria will allow NATO troops, as well as travelers from some neighboring countries, to enter the country without showing any coronavirus-related documents as of April 13, its health ministry said on Tuesday.
The European Union and NATO member country lifted all domestic Covid restrictions from the beginning of the month, including wearing of face masks indoors as the number of new inflections eased.
The Black Sea state, which is setting up a 1,000-strong battle group as NATO is bolstering its eastern flank amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will allow access of foreign allied forces to its territory without any Covid certificate.
The same rule will apply to travelers from neighboring North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey as well as for visitors from Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia Israel and Egypt, the ministry said.
