As of the latest update by the Greek authorities, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 diagnosed cases in Greece is 149,973. 27 new deaths were reported raising the total number to 5,545. The number of patients treated in intensive care units is currently 300. 516 new cases were announced yesterday in Greece. 230 of the new cases were found in the Attica region and 43 new cases in the Thessaloniki region.
In South Africa, a new Covid-19 mutation was detected. So far, the evidence suggests it is possible, existing vaccines do not to offer full protection against it. In this case the vaccines should be redesigned this year, as to better respond to new stronger forms of the virus.
In California, Moderna’s vaccine has been eliminated, due to a suspiciously high number of patients having allergic reactions, after receiving the dose.
As more and more people get vaccinated, they continue socializing, and doubts have been raised about the possible spread of Covid-19 among those and the non vaccinated group of people. Experts still don’t know whether the vaccine protects against the spread of the virus.
Dr of Pathology Giorgos Pappas has said, in a recent interview on OpenTV, that local lockdowns were a failure and Greece is heading to a third wave of Covid-19. He also said that the vaccine protects against all mutations of the virus, regarding medical evidence published so far.
